Flagship Pioneering named Yasir Al-Wakeel as CEO-Partner of Flagship and CEO of Vesalius Therapeutics as well as Mary Beth Hawler as president of Pioneering Medicines.

Rhonda Pacheco was named president of Takeda’s U.S. business unit, effective September 29.

Omega Healthcare hired Gautam Char as its chief strategy officer.

GCI Health, a 2025 MM+M Agency 100 honoree, hired Scorpion Therapeutics alum Ravi Moorthy as managing director, global corporate lead.

Dr. Nicholas Richardson left his position as Deputy Director at the Food and Drug Administration overseeing hematologic malignancies to join Precision for Medicine as VP of clinical development.

Match Group comms head Justine Sacco joined period, ovulation and pregnancy app Flo Health as its chief communications officer.

Swiss Rockets, a Switzerland-based biotech incubator and accelerator, appointed former Roche/Genentech leader Dr. Thomas Zioncheck as strategic business advisor.

Jupiter Neurosciences named Jean Fallacara as Third Nugevia’s brand ambassador.

CMI Media Group, a 2025 MM+M Agency 100 honoree, named Aurélie Rizzo as director, global.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. added five new ACIP members.

Rob Goodwin will join Parexel as the chief operating officer.

Quetzal Therapeutics named Dr. Shaad Abedin as chief medical officer.

Executive elevations:

CAMP4 Therapeutics announced the elevation of Daniel Tardiff, PhD to chief scientific officer.

Vinay Prasad now also holds the title of chief medical and scientific officer at the FDA.

ALX Oncology tapped board member Barbara Klencke, MD as interim chief medical officer.

Board appointments:

Butler/Till, a 2025 MM+M Agency 100 honoree, named former president and CEO of the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4A’s), Marla Kaplowitz, to its board of directors.

The National Association of Specialty Pharmacy welcomed four new board members.

Cumulus Oncology named Dr. Manuel Aivado as board director and Dr. Brian Jones as scientific advisor.

Imbria Pharmaceuticals named Pavan Cheruvu, MD as independent chair of the board of directors and James Januzzi, MD as senior research advisor and scientific advisory board chair.

Departures:

Bonnie Addario, a lung cancer advocate, died at 77.

A patient died in a clinical trial testing Capsida Biotherapeutics’ gene therapy for a rare pediatric condition.

A child in Los Angeles died from complications of a measles infection contracted in infancy.

Miscellaneous:

Surgeon General Nominee Casey Means pledged to divest from her wellness interests.

Former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Susan Monarez, told lawmakers that her former boss HHS Secretary Kennedy, told her he plans to change the childhood vaccine schedule this month.

The Securities and Exchange Commission is bringing charges against former FibroGen chief medical officer Kin-Hung Peony Yu for manipulating clinical trial data.

Three scientists — Vertex Pharmaceuticals’ Paul Negulescu, former Vertex researcher Jesús González and University of Iowa’s Michael Welsh — have won the $250,000 Lasker Award for their roles in developing Trikafta.

Texas dropped a lawsuit against a doctor accused of illegally providing care to transgender youth.
