NEW YORK: CeraVe is partnering with the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (NAFC) to connect dermatologists with local clinics to provide free skin checks for World Skin Health Day on July 8.

World Skin Health Day is promoted by the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) and the International Society of Dermatology (ISD), underscoring the importance of skin health.

For the second year in a row, CeraVe is the only official corporate partner of World Skin Health Day. CeraVe is funding unrestricted grants for the NAFC to provide dermatological care where it did not occur before, as well as training opportunities.

Tom Allison, SVP and medical director at CeraVe parent company L’Oreal, explained that this campaign aligns with CeraVe’s Care For All initiative.

“We’re constantly looking for other opportunities to promote and spread access to [dermatology] where it doesn’t exist. And World Skin Health Day is a great example of that,” he said.

CeraVe is also providing dermatologists with educational materials to spread awareness of the importance of skin health and survey findings that reveal a need for more skin health education and exposing the barriers preventing American adults from derm care.

The brand is focusing on local outreach for World Skin Health Day. Some clinics are providing skin consults or educational sessions. CeraVe is conducting media outreach in those local markets so that the patients in those areas are aware, said Stacey Cooney, assistant VP at Coyne PR.

“The purpose is to really make a difference for patients, specifically,” she said.

Last week, in the lead up to World Skin Health Day, CeraVe posted on Instagram about how it is celebrating and encouraged people to sign up to take action.

CeraVe also created a microsite that provides consumers with information about World Skin Health Day and helps them to locate a nearby clinic providing free skin checks.

Part of the mission of World Skin Health Day is to drive awareness, generate more dermatology visits and to help patients understand what’s happening with their skin.

One of the best ways to protect your skin? SPF said Allison.

“From the lightest patients to the darkest patients, everybody needs SPF every single day as a way to keep your skin healthy,” he said.

Coyne PR conducted all media outreach for CeraVe’s World Skin Day campaign.
