The Health and Human Services Department plans to furlough 41% of its workforce if Congress fails to prevent a government shutdown by midnight. Approximately 32,460 employees are expected to be furloughed. (Reuters)

AstraZeneca announced it will list its shares directly on the New York Stock Exchange. This would give U.S. investors access to a prominent non-U.S. drugmaker. (The Guardian)

GSK CEO Emma Walmsley is stepping down. The company’s chief commercial lead, Luke Miels, will lead the company starting in May. (STAT News)

AbbVie is planning to launch its ovarian cancer drug in the U.K. at the U.S. price. This is in line with President Trump’s most favored nations policy which demands that drugmakers align domestic products with the lowest levels paid by comparable high-income countries. (Investing.com)

Steve Ubl, the president and CEO of PhRMA, wrote an op-ed in arguing that Big Pharma also wants to lower the price of drugs. He details drugmakers’ strategies to invest in U.S. manufacturing over the next decade, and what that means for drug costs. (The Washington Post)
