The California Department of Rehabilitation is seeking a PR firm to run communications and marketing for one year with a contract worth $375,000, according to solicitation documents from the state.
Bids are due on July 28 and the contract is expected to begin on October 1.
The state Department of Rehabilitation is responsible for helping Californians with disabilities obtain and retain employment and maximize their ability to live independently.
The goal of the agency search is to develop a marketing and communications strategy package that reflects and aligns with the mission of the department. It also wants to distinguish its services from other state programs such as physical rehabilitation, substance treatment and corrections, per solicitation documents.
The winning firm will provide strategic planning, community engagement, creative design and PR services and contribute to the department’s goals and objectives.
The contract breaks down work into three phases. In the first stage, the firm will be expected to work on discovery and strategy, followed by brand identity development and campaign and public awareness strategy. In the final phase, the firm will be expected to outline key target audiences, an implementation timeline and measurable performance indicators to track awareness and engagement, among other duties.
To qualify, firms must be licensed to do business in California.
The Department of Rehabilitation was created in 1963. It is administratively attached to the California Health and Human Services Agency.
