Not many pharma marketing teams operate like a consumer marketing team, but at Novartis, chief marketing and customer experience officer Gail Horwood is pushing the team to not just operate as a top pharma marketing organization, but also as a first-in-class marketing crew across all industries.
Nowhere was that more obvious than on advertising’s biggest stage: the Super Bowl. Horwood threw out the pharma playbook, invested in celebrity talent such as Wanda Sykes and Hailee Steinfeld and aired a breast cancer awareness spot that encourages younger women to get screenings for the disease.
The ad, Your Attention, Please, caught the attention of an audience north of 100 million on Super Bowl Sunday with a jarring message that over 6 million women watching the game may eventually be diagnosed with breast cancer.
