Dr. Uché Blackstock is the founder and CEO of Advancing Health Equity, an organization aimed at dismantling racism in healthcare. The consultancy has worked with major companies, hospitals and healthcare systems to create strategic plans to become more equitable.
“We help institutions and organizations operationalize their mission and values — ensuring equity is not an afterthought but a core driver of improved outcomes, innovation and long-term impact,” she tells MM+M.
Blackstock is a New York Times-bestseller author of Legacy: A Black Physician Reckons with Racism in Medicine. Her book explores inequalities in the American healthcare system, tracing its origins through slavery to its looming presence today.
Blackstock and her twin sister, Oni, were the first Black mother-daughter legacy students to attend Harvard Medical School — their mother had received her medical degree three decades before. She also served as a faculty member at NYU School of Medicine.
