Dr. Reshma Kewalramani has been shaking up the pharmaceutical landscape as the CEO and president of Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Taking on the roles in 2020, she has been behind some of the largest breakthroughs in medicine including cystic fibrosis treatments and the first FDA approved CRISPR gene therapy.

Kewalramani is also driving Vertex to push boundaries. The company has developed the first non-opioid pain drug in decades and expanded its reach into diseases such as sickle cell, diabetes and kidney disorders.

Recognized as the first woman of color to lead a major U.S. biotech company, she is a trailblazer who uses her platform to start groundbreaking advancements and lead the next generation of science leaders. Kewalramani has been widely recognized, appearing on Time’s 100 Most Influential People of 2025, CNBC’s Changemakers roster, Fortune’s Most Powerful Women and Business Insider’s list of people transforming healthcare.
